The Martingale Collar, mentioned in the video, is good choice when trying to train your dog. It allows for fuller control than regular preset sized dog collars and is good for young pups in the training stage. As the dog moves away from you, a gentle tug will have him right back at your side. Be sure, though, not to jerk too much or allow the collar to tighten too much on your young dog’s neck.

The leather or nylon collars, on the other hand, are more decorative and more appropriate dog collars for larger, more mature dogs. There are many other fun and decorative dog collars you may want to invest in once your dog is trained. Everything from animal printed collars, tuxedo collars, to gemstone and rhinestone collars for a “swank” look, like the one below.

You can have great fun shopping for collars and harnesses. Be discriminating. Don’t buy the first one you see.  With a little knowledge and a lot of perseverance, you are certain to find the dog collars that are absolutely right for your furry family member.
