During the winter when the days are shorter you’ll often be walking your dog at dawn or dusk when there is very little light, before and after you put in your 8 hours at work. You’ll want to give your dog as much lead room as he wants while making him or her highly visible to oncoming traffic. A reflective dog harness may be the answer.
Reflective harnesses allow drivers to see your precious pooch as they approach, while you carefully navigate your pooch away from traffic as you see it coming.
The Doggles Reflective Mesh Walking dog harness on the right is a great choice in a visible, protective dog harness and features an adjustable, ergonomic fit. It comes in five colors to satisify every pet owner’s tastes.
This Halloween you’ll want to make extra sure your dog is protected at night as he joins the neighborhood kids in the fun of “trick or treating.” With a Doggles Reflective Harness you’ll have fewer worries and lots more fun.

I know, this blog is just supposed to be about collars, leads and harnesses. But, come on, Halloween is fast approaching, and I couldnt resist talking about all the fun costumes for dogs that are on the market today.
I think of all the ones I’ve seen, the cutest is the “Hot Diggity Dog” made especially with a Dachshund in mind. Just the sight of this costume was enough to crack me up! If I owned a Dachshund you can bet that my little puppy would be covering the neighborhood this Halloween dressed as a hot dog with all the other kids ! And to make it even funnier, this costume comes in “mustard” or “ketchup!”
What a hoot!
Another favorite costume of mine is “The Prince of Frogs,” every dog’s dream. I think this costume is meant for a boxer pug-type dog, or any dog that already has “froggie” big eyes. I think it’s a toss up between the Hot Dog and the Frog. But you can decide for yourself.
Here’s one more “goodie,” “Casual Canine Dogicula.” Doesn’t he look slick! This little guy is going to be the life of the party.
Look around and see what you can find for your favorite furry family member this Halloween. I’m sure your kids will be glad to help you select a costume for your pet. And have a great time! That’s what Halloween is all about!
Now that you’ve had a brief overview of the kinds of dog collars that are available, it’s important to select the right one for your special pooch. There are many possibilities, but the following video will narrow down wide selections into three basic types:
The Martingale Collar, mentioned in the video, is good choice when trying to train your dog. It allows for fuller control than regular preset sized dog collars and is good for young pups in the training stage. As the dog moves away from you, a gentle tug will have him right back at your side. Be sure, though, not to jerk too much or allow the collar to tighten too much on your young dog’s neck.
The leather or nylon collars, on the other hand, are more decorative and more appropriate dog collars for larger, more mature dogs. There are many other fun and decorative dog collars you may want to invest in once your dog is trained. Everything from animal printed collars, tuxedo collars, to gemstone and rhinestone collars for a “swank” look, like the one below.
You can have great fun shopping for collars and harnesses. Be discriminating. Don’t buy the first one you see. With a little knowledge and a lot of perseverance, you are certain to find the dog collars that are absolutely right for your furry family member.
